About the Location
This hospitality venue is located within a modern lifestyle hotel, part of an international hotel chain, situated in a vibrant shopping district in Amsterdam Zuid. The rooftop location provides an inspiring setting for lunch, dinner, and private events. Guests come here for the relaxed atmosphere, stylish interior, and pure, seasonal dishes.
The location is part of a small-scale hospitality group with several distinctive venues. Think of a lakeside beach house, a rooftop restaurant, and various event concepts where food, atmosphere, and experience come together. Since 1989, this organization has been known for its personal approach, strong teams, and character-driven hospitality.
Your role as Sous Chef
As Sous Chef, you support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen brigade. You actively participate in mise-en-place, oversee food quality during service, guide team members and contribute to the development of new dishes. In the absence of the Head Chef, you take charge of the kitchen operation.
Your responsibilities include:
Daily support of the Head Chef
Leading the team when the Head Chef is absent
Monitoring quality, hygiene and HACCP compliance
Efficient preparation and execution of mise-en-place
Managing inventory, ordering and cost control
Coaching and mentoring kitchen staff
Contributing to seasonal menus and food concepts
Who are we looking for?
You are a passionate chef with ambition, structure and a strong team spirit. You’re organized, collaborative, and confident – even during the busiest moments.
What you bring:
Experience working in a professional kitchen
Solid knowledge of HACCP, cooking techniques and product quality
Strong sense of responsibility and team mindset
Flexibility, attention to detail and good organizational skills
Passion for honest, local ingredients

1-year contract with a one-month probation period
Salary based on experience (according to Dutch Hospitality CAO)
Travel allowance of €0.23 per km
